Our national
flag is the symbol of our freedom. We achieved it through a bloody war. It is
rectangular in shape. It is 5:3 in proportion. It can be made of cotton, silk,
or linen. There is a crimson circle in the middle of the flag. The remaining
portion is bottle green. The green colour symbolizes the ever green nature of
the country. The crimson circle represents the fresh red blood of the martyrs
in the Liberation War. Our national flag is hoisted in front of every office,
educational institute and Bangladeshi embassies in foreign countries. On our
national days people also hoist it. It is kept half mast on the International
Mother Language Day on 21 February. It is the source of our spirit, hopes and
aspiration. When we look at it, our heart is filled with love and respect. We
should uphold the dignity of our national flag. We should take an oath that we
must save the honour and prestige of this flag even instead of our lives.
